What if we trained our spiritual lives with the same intentionality we train our bodies?
Most men understand discipline when it comes to physical strength.
You don’t get stronger by lifting weights once in a while. You don’t build endurance by training only when you feel motivated. Progress comes from showing up consistently, putting in the work, and continuing even when nobody is watching.
Our walk with Christ is no different.
“Train yourself for godliness.” — 1 Timothy 4:7
Spiritual discipline isn’t about becoming more religious. It’s about becoming more rooted in Christ.
It looks like opening God’s Word when you’d rather scroll your phone.
It looks like praying when you don’t know what to say.
It looks like choosing obedience when compromise would be easier.
It looks like having another brother who can challenge you, encourage you, and tell you the truth when you’re drifting.
It looks like building habits that keep your heart pointed toward Christ long before the storm comes.
Because here’s the reality:
You don’t build spiritual strength in the middle of the battle. You build it before the battle.
The husband who wants to lead his family needs spiritual discipline.
The father who wants to leave a legacy needs spiritual discipline.
The man who wants to stand firm when temptation comes needs spiritual discipline.
The leader who wants to lead with wisdom instead of pride needs spiritual discipline.
And none of us are going to do it perfectly.
But we can be faithful.
Start small. Start today.
Pray. Read. Obey. Repeat.
Then find a brother who will walk with you.
Iron sharpens iron.
What’s one spiritual discipline you’re committing to strengthen this week?
Drop it in the comments. Let’s encourage one another and build men who are strong in faith, strong in character, and willing to live their faith when nobody is watching.
